Rather than the minor incremental 1.0.1, 1.0.2 designation, the more major update was initially designated 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 (I forget). Often it's very minor stuff.įor the original 7D, Canon released a major firmware update after about 3 years of production. go to the support/download section of the Canon web page for the 7DII and you'll find details of what was "fixed" with the latest version of firmware. If the camera is working fine and doing all you need it to do, it's certainly not mandatory to update the firmware. Had the camera about two years and it works great as is and don't want to fix something that isn't broke. I wonder what the new firmware would do that I am unable to do now. What operating system are you using? If Windows, then you probably need to be logged in as an administrator.I have a Canon Eos 7D mark II and was reading that there are updates for the firmware.
